I’ve had the chance to get behind the wheel of the Nissan Armada several times throughout my career as an automotive journalist. It’s a vehicle I’ve always found impressive for its performance, finish, and imposing stature. However, the Armada often missed the mark in terms of design, which fortunately is not the case with the new generation.
Square, modern, and sophisticated, the 2025 Nissan Armada is undeniably appealing at first glance, and that’s a good thing. Let’s just say that the Japanese automaker’s SUV finally has a design that matches its technical specs.
Ready for a New Adventure
The Nissan Armada belongs to a very special category of vehicles. It can handle the tasks of a pickup truck and a minivan while offering a certain level of off-road capabilities.
Nissan has done an incredible job with the new Armada, delivering a striking and elegant aesthetic signature. Not to mention the 22-inch wheels available on certain trims. In fact, it almost looks like a luxury vehicle thanks to its sleek design, which makes it all the more appealing. This is equally true for the interior, which is more modern and comfortable than ever. The 2025 Armada offers luxury on all levels, particularly with the Platinum trim, which seriously rivals the Infiniti QX80. The cabin is more inviting than ever, featuring a massive digital interface with two 12.3-inch screens for the dashboard and multimedia system. Optional 14.3-inch screens are also available.
The 2025 Armada also includes a PRO-4X version, whose off-road capabilities have been significantly enhanced. This trim features skid plates and an electronically locking rear differential, among other upgrades.
Power to Spare
Where the 2025 Nissan Armada makes significant progress compared to the previous generation is in its mechanical setup. While I’m a strong advocate for V8 engines, the one in the previous Armada felt outdated. For 2025, the Armada is equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, a powertrain that positions it much more favorably against the competition. This new engine produces 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, allowing the Japanese automaker’s giant SUV to tow up to 8,500 pounds.
A new model also means a new price tag. In the case of the 2025 Nissan Armada, we’re looking at a significant increase. The Japanese automaker’s SUV now starts at $87,839 for the SL trim. The Platinum trim comes next at $96,839, followed by the PRO-4X trim at $97,839. The Platinum Reserve trim crosses the six-figure mark at $109,407. Finally, the top-of-the-line Platinum Reserve with captain’s chairs is priced at $110,607.
