Nissan: A Sales Increase in the First Quarter

The beginning of April not only signals the arrival of spring but also marks the end of the first quarter in the automotive industry.

This time of year is important, as it follows the most challenging months for sales. The data collected during this period helps set the tone for the next nine months and gives an idea of whether automakers made the right decisions in the previous year.

Signs of Improvement

As you may already know, Nissan has gone through a rough patch recently, but the automaker seems to be picking up momentum. The first-quarter sales figures confirm this upward trend.

In the first three months of the year, the Japanese automaker recorded 29,124 sales — 1,076 more units than during the same period last year — representing a 3.84% increase. The numbers are even more impressive south of the border: in the United States, sales rose by 6.3%.

Some Sales Figures

Unsurprisingly, the most popular model during the first quarter was the Rogue, with 9,665 units sold. Ironically, this is an 11% decrease compared to last year, which means other models helped make up the difference. The Nissan Kicks and Kicks Play were very popular. In fact, the previous version is selling even better than the new generation, with 4,983 units versus 4,542. The Nissan Z saw the biggest increase in sales — up 187.93%. It must be said that the Japanese sports car offers great performance for its price.

A fun fact: some models that technically shouldn’t appear in Nissan’s report still managed to sneak in. Believe it or not, Nissan sold three brand-new Titans, even though the model has been out of production since 2023. And that’s not even the most surprising data point — a brand-new Micra also found a buyer, despite being pulled from the lineup in 2020.

All in all, Nissan is off to a good start this year, which is great news for the Japanese automaker as it searches for a new major partner.
